Shareece William’s New Life (2025), is her first official abstract collection of the year. I felt so much kinetic energy from the piece F.U.C.K., with many complicated emotions, much like most of us feel today. Here, I unpack my visceral reaction to the piece through this poem.
Kindling for the Call
written and read by Shondra Bowie
Forward feels immense, and
upward - tense, when
consequence is
killing one’s sense of direction
Frequencies run
underneath a display of
chaos and loss,
kinship and cost.
Fostering fluency with
unflinching urgency,
collective response is
kindling for the call.
”A raw, unapologetic expression of rage and liberation, F.U.C.K is about defiance. It embodies the moment of refusing to conform, of breaking free from expectations. The piece moves between destruction and creation, mirroring the energy of rebellion and self-reclamation.”

Wow--especially these lines:
"Forward feels immense, and
upward - tense, when
consequence is
killing one’s sense of direction"
